#AAGConf2025 Abstracts now open!

Join us for the 58th AAG Conference, to be held in Mparntwe/Alice Springs from 11 to 14 November 2025!

The organising committee of #AAGConf25 is pleased to invite abstract submissions from researchers, educators, aged care and health practitioners, policy makers, students and others engaged in improving the experience of ageing for older people.

The conference theme “Ageing at the Centre” invites us all to view ageing at the centre of our communities, our practice, our policies, our environment, our lives. It draws us to explore fresh ideas and work differently to improve the experience of ageing through connecting research, policy and practice.

Presentations may be in the format of oral, thinktank, symposium, art exhibition and/or poster, and should fall under the following themes:

  1. Arts, design, innovation and technology
  2. Climate, environment and nutrition
  3.  Health and medical
  4. Policy, advocacy, planning and change
  5. Service delivery, workforce and reform
  6.  Ageing well, longevity & social care

Abstract submissions close on 17 April 2025. Visit the conference website for details.

AJA Spotlight: Ms Susana Harding, AAG Gary Andrews International Fellow invited editorial

AAG is pleased to bring a new monthly Thursday Three feature showcasing research and articles contributed by AAG members, supporters and collaborators in the Australasian Journal of Ageing (AJA).

This month we shine the spotlight on AAG Gary Andrews International Fellow and speaker at #AAGConf24, Ms Susan Harding, whose invited editorial focuses on the personal contributions of the late Professor Gary Andrews in advancing gerontology through intergenerational equity, social quality and healthy longevity:

Gary Andrews envisioned a world where ageing is not a problem to solve but an opportunity to embrace. His work continues to guide and inspire contemporary gerontology… From fostering intergenerational connections to ensuring the social and economic inclusion of older women and advancing holistic models of healthy ageing, these themes encapsulate both the challenges and opportunities of today's ageing world.

Read the full editorial now at AJA online. Access is free for AAG members.

National Aged Care Data Asset (NACDA) now available

The first iteration of the National Aged Care Data Asset (NACDA) is now available for researchers to access via the AIHW’s National Health Data Hub. NACDA brings together data collected across aged care, health and community service settings.

It allows both government and non-government researchers to access de-identified person-level data to answer important aged care research and policy questions. NACDA is an enduring asset with data updated regularly and new datasets added over time.

For more information, visit the NACDA webpage or contact the NACDA team at the AIHW via: [email protected]
